Deck Cleaning and Staining NJ Power Washing
In my early days of pressure washing, I remember getting my first calls to wash and stain decks. I did not know much about wood restoration and since people were asking for quotes to “power wash” the deck, that’s exactly what I did. Little did I know that simply blasting high pressure water did not do much to properly prepare a deck for staining. Pressurized water did not do much more than splinter the wood while taking off some of the surface pollutants. It did nothing to open the pores of the wood and did nothing to release any of the old stain that was still hanging on.
Since this time through training and countless trials of error, I finally acquired the artful skill of preparing a deck in a manner that allowed the stain to properly adhere. With the use of proper detergents we can open the pores, release the old stain, brighten the wood, all without the use of damaging high pressure.
Notice how bright this wood is in the photo. This almost looks like brand new wood. Could you guess that this wood was underwater from a flood in Springfield NJ during Hurricane Irene?
